Suit: Affair made sports star 'worthless'A New York fitness center has sued former Giants running back Tiki Barber for a million dollars, saying a public affair made him worthless as a spokesman.
Tricera Revolution, which operates Flywheel Sports fitness centers in Manhattan and Sag Harbor, N.Y., said in court papers that Barber was "rendered worthless overnight" as a spokesman for the company, the New York Daily News reported. The company described its "core clientele" as women aged 25 to 55 and said there was an "overwhelmingly negative" reaction to news of Barber's affair with a 23-year-old NBC intern.
When the company approached him last year, he and his wife, Ginny, appeared to be a "happily married, celebrity couple who were known to attend indoor cycling classes together," the company's complaint said.
The lawsuit says the company effectively made Barber a partner, giving him 10,000 shares of stock that he has refused to return.
Barber, now a sports commentator, is in the middle of a divorce.
