A series of unsettling events begins to affect the cattle drive as one of the men shows signs of psychological instability. Suspicion, fear, and paranoia spread among the crew, threatening the unity needed to keep the drive moving safely. Gil Favor must identify the source of the growing danger while maintaining discipline, as Rowdy Yates and the others struggle with the unpredictability of a man pushed to the brink.
